Friendship & Furniture
Pat had a way of being a friend that was unique and intense. She got into you: your problems and issues were hers; hers were yours. No more was this so than in living spaces. As many can attest, Pat loved fabric, furniture, & interesting pieces. She had a terrific eye for the right arrangement and she was not shy in using that eye. Every time she and Ed would come up to our country house in Columbia County, we would rearrange the furniture in at least one room. There was always a better angle for a chair in the living room, a need for a multi-colored bowl on the coffee table. (Let's go find one.), a throw would give a touch of warmth; let's re-hang these photos. These were friendly orders I followed to the letter. She was always right. In Brooklyn, my den was missing the connecting color between the fireplace tiles and the rest of the room. Comment made in the fall. By Xmas, Pat gave me a beautiful teal colored bowl-the same color as the tile border which she found, of course, at her favorite store in Soho. Pat's thinking & her suggestions are all over both of my houses so that when I look around, I can still feel Pat and our laughing good times.
Love you Pat.

The favorite store in Soho was the beloved, but now gone, Zona which Victoria and I also frequented often in search of the just right gift.
